Quassia and Tansy Medicated Shampoo is based on a herbal concoction that our Herbalist originally devised to help combat that dreaded scourge of schools - Head Lice! This is an unlicensed product so we can't legally make any claims about efficacy but people with irritated scalp conditions - eczema, psoriasis and sebhorrheic dermatitis, do tend to buy this alot!
The organic herbal extracts of Quassia, Calendula (Marigold) and Tansy have a long history of use in treating funghal and parasitic infections and the oils of Peppermint, Rosemary and Lavender are cooling, anti-inflammatory and healing.
Like all the Toria Pilar shampoos, Quassia and Tansy is a little thinner than most conventional shampoos; commercial shampoos have salt added to thicken the detergents (this is a simple chemical effect - you can try it yourself by adding a strong salt solution to a small amount of Toria Pilar shampoo). We do not add salt because there is compelling evidence that it irritates and dries the scalp. This does not effect the efficacy of the product and you shouldn't need more than a teaspoon or so to effectively wash even the thickest hair.
